NYS Museum, Albany New York

Guth DeConzo performed a turn key lighting project for the NYS Museum. The Museum, is the oldest and largest state museum in the country. The Museum collections rank among the finest in many fields and total more than 16 million scientific specimens and one million cultural objects. Contemporary exhibits include the 9-11 exhibit, the NYS Mastodon, and several other exhibits intended to inform and educate all New Yorkers of all ages.

As part of the lighting scope, over 2,000 lighting fixtures were upgraded to LED fixtures throughout the Museum. The fixtures were a combination of track lighting and canister fixtures. As part of the design, Guth Deconzo worked closely with the selected vendor (LSI) to ensure the new fixtures provided the proper light levels, dimming capability and ability to adjust intensity and focus

This project features the utilization of wireless sensor control systems allowing for cost savings on installation.

The scope for this project included both track lighting and general lighting. Guth DeConzo along with the facility and the contractor developed a detailed work and phasing schedule that allowed work to take place without issues and with very little facility inconvenience to visitors to the Museum.

Safety is always a paramount concern with Guth DeConzo. The contractors had no lost work hours on this project.
