Mechanical Engineer

MANHATTAN   •   TROY, NY

Guth DeConzo Consulting Engineers, PC is an industry leading, professional and technical services firm with offices in Manhattan, Troy, and Stony Brook, New York. We specialize in energy audits, design, commissioning and construction management. Our clients, many repeat clients, are in key markets, including hospitals, universities, hospitality and government facilities. Our highly technical projects include chiller plants, boiler plants, distributed generation, HVAC renovations, building management controls migration, comprehensive lighting upgrades, commissioning and retro-commissioning.

Guth DeConzo is seeking a highly motivated mechanical engineer for full-time employment in both our Troy and NYC office. Some regional travel is required, approximately 10–15% of time, occasionally overnight. We offer competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Self-motivated, solution-oriented, organized, driven; a team-focused critical thinker capable of independent detailed work
  • Competency in a wide array of design functions including: equipment selection; system sizing; load calculations; product specifications; design layouts for mechanical systems; desire to create technical design solutions
  • Proficiency in preparing mechanical design calculations, develop drawings, formulate technical specifications and create technical reports for review and submission
  • Ability to conduct field audits, survey existing conditions and recording information about building components, including central plant, HVAC and plumbing/fire protection systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to research and apply building code, energy, regulatory and industry code requirements
  • Experience in coordinating, supporting and communicating with colleagues across disciplines and receive direction from project leads

Minimum Requirements

  • At least five-seven years of experience working on US-based projects
  • Proficient with all MS Office products and technical drafting using AutoCAD
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience; PE License in New York State and/or CEM a plus
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is a plus

Mid-Level & Entry Level Electrical Engineer

We are a team of nearly 50 employees, including engineers, designers, auditors, construction managers and management professionals with offices in Manhattan, New York and Troy, New York. Guth DeConzo services clients in key markets, including hospitals, universities, hospitality and government facilities. Our highly technical projects include chiller plants, boiler plants, distributed generation, HVAC renovations, building management controls migration, comprehensive lighting upgrades, commissioning and retro-commissioning. Job Summary

Guth DeConzo is growing and seeking a highly motivated mid-level electrical engineer and an entry-level electrical engineer for employment in our Troy, New York office. Some travel is required, approximately 10–15% of time, occasionally overnight.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Self-motivated, solution-oriented, organized, driven; a team-focused critical thinker capable of independent detailed work
  • Competency in a wide array of design functions including: equipment selection; system sizing; load calculations; product specifications; design layouts for electrical systems
  • Proficiency in preparing electrical design calculations, develop drawings, formulate technical specifications and create technical reports for review and submission
  • Able to conduct field audits, survey existing conditions and recording information about building components, including lighting, switchgear, motors and other electrical equipment
  • Demonstrate the ability to research and apply building code, energy, regulatory and industry code requirements
  • Experience in coordinating, supporting and communicating with colleagues across disciplines and receive direction from project leads
  • Desire to grow to be a project leader and create technical design solutions

Minimum Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working on US-based projects
  • Proficient with all MS Office products
  • Familiarity with electrical design software, short circuit analysis and other complex engineering tasks, is a plus
  • Candidate should be familiar to proficient with technical drafting using AutoCAD and have project experience in lighting and calculation programs
  • Entry-level Electrical Designer or Jr. Electrical Engineer shall have 1 to 3 years of design experience and electrical knowledge
  • Mid-level Engineer shall have 3 to 10 years of electric design experience and a portfolio of successful projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related experience. PE License in New York State, CEM, LC, a plus

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is a plus
